Overall Goal
The project goal is to increase the resilience of Carpathian communities to climate change induced floods and other emergencies by acting locally. Support flood affected communities in recovering from the disaster Improve preparedness of communities to act on flood emergencies. Establish a sustainable platform for promotion of climate adaptation and mitigation activities
Project Activities
- Supporting families in need with compound feed for stock in Chernivtsi region
- Developing community emergency flood management plan
- Community mobilization around building bio-based river embankment enforcement to protect households
- Gravity fed rainwater harvesting system for flushing toilets for the local school
- Alert boxes and flood barriers for the communities
- Anti-flood water retention or detention pond technical design as community climate adaptation and floods protection measure
- Trainings and seminars for local actors on the following topics:
- Non-formal educational activities for local youngsters on the forest, climate change and disaster issues
- Establishment of a sustainable platform for promotion of climate adaptation and mitigation activities, capacity building of professionals, communities and general public
