CirCLER at Politecnico di Milano: implementing the CETM course through Passion in Action

As part of the dissemination activities of the CirCLER project, the Circular Economy Transition Manager (CETM) training course has been integrated into the complementary Passion in Action courses at Politecnico di Milano. The initiative is promoted by the Department of Design, a project partner, and contributes to the dissemination of competences related to the circular and regenerative transition in the furniture sector.

Through this initiative, the course CirCLER: Circular Economy Transition Manager is offered as an extracurricular learning opportunity for students interested in developing practical knowledge in circular economy, circular design, and emerging professional roles connected to the sustainable transition. The experience represents a concrete example of the implementation of the CirCLER training toolkit within the Higher Education context, enabling the integration of flexible and modular online learning content into university learning pathways.

Participants are asked to complete selected modules of the online course, including Module 1 (Introduction to Circular Economy), Module 5 (Circular Design), and Module 10 (Final Module), and to share their feedback through a short online form.
In addition, students are also introduced to the CirCLER self-assessment tool, which allows them to reflect on their current level of competences in relation to the CETM profile and to identify personalised learning pathways aligned with their interests and professional goals.

The involvement of students as early users of the platform contributes to the validation of the CirCLER toolkit and provides useful insights for its further improvement. At the same time, this experience highlights the potential of the university context as a testing ground for new educational models aimed at developing interdisciplinary competences needed to address the complexity of sustainable transitions.

By integrating CirCLER learning resources into complementary courses, the Department of Design explores the role of Higher Education institutions in supporting the adoption of circular approaches and in strengthening the connection between academic education and emerging professional profiles.
