CirCLER: From Foundational Knowledge to Future Skills for the Circular Transition

The CirCLER training toolkit supports the entire learning pathway of future Circular Economy Transition Managers (CETMs), starting from the fundamental principles introduced in the first module (M1) and moving towards strategic reflection and future perspectives developed in the final module (M10). As the opening and closing modules of the training programme, M1 and M10 help structure a comprehensive pathway that supports learners in understanding the challenges of circularity and in translating knowledge into concrete actions within the furniture sector.

The programme introduces key topics such as circular economy principles, resource efficiency, sustainable materials and major sustainability frameworks, encouraging the shift away from linear production models towards regenerative and resilient systems. At the same time, it highlights the strategic role of the CETM as a professional figure capable of integrating circularity into business strategies, design processes and organizational decision-making.

Looking ahead, the toolkit also addresses the main barriers to the adoption of circular practices (cultural, economic, technological and regulatory) and promotes a systemic, innovation-driven approach. The focus on digital technologies and new business models strengthens transversal skills such as leadership, collaboration and strategic vision, which are essential to guide organizations through the circular transition.

By connecting foundational knowledge with future-oriented competences, the CirCLER training kit contributes to preparing new professionals to lead the transition towards a more circular, resilient and competitive European furniture sector.
