Partners of the CirCLER project gathered in Brussels on November 12th and 13th, 2024, at EFIC’s premises to advance their efforts in creating training resources tailored to the circular economy (CE) needs of the furniture sector. This Erasmus+ initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and support workers and businesses in adapting to sustainable practices.
Discussions centered on developing a robust training curriculum that integrates core CE principles with practical applications specific to furniture production and design. The curriculum focuses on equipping learners with knowledge of sustainable material use, resource efficiency, and waste reduction strategies while fostering innovation in design for circularity. Collaborative refinement of the content is ongoing to ensure its relevance and accessibility across different educational and professional levels.
Work also progressed on the creation of a digital toolkit to host and deliver this training. Designed for flexibility, the toolkit will provide a dynamic platform where learners can access tailored learning paths. Partners are aligning the training materials with industry competencies and exploring innovative formats to enhance engagement.
Partners also emphasized the role of the upcoming CirCLER Furniture Labs, which will bring together sector experts, policymakers, and educators to promote the project's outcomes and gather insights for further refinement.
This meeting highlighted the collective commitment to empowering the furniture sector with the skills and tools necessary to lead in the circular economy. As preparations for the pilot phase of training intensify, CirCLER remains on track to deliver meaningful impact for a sustainable future.
