Discussion on sustainable tourism in the Synevyr community

As part of the RURACTIVE project, during 4th of April 2025 we held the 3d local workshop with various local and regional stakeholders.
This time, the focus was on sustainable tourism development. Surprisingly, this topic turned out to be one of the most complicated we've tackled so far with the Synevyr community.

Although tourism is part of the community’s development strategy and residents are involved in tourism services, a shared vision for how to develop this sector effectively and sustainably is still missing.

One of the biggest challenges?
How to motivate tourists to stay longer than one day. Most visitors come to see Lake Synevyr and move on, unaware of other attractions or activities in the area.
We observed that tools like internal communication and cooperation—among service providers, local authorities, and the national park—are underused. The same goes for cross-community collaboration, especially with neighbors like Kolochava village, which also has unique offers for visitors.

The good news? We ended the meeting with a clear actions in view:
A sustainable tourism task force will be created to regularly exchange information and seek collaborative solutions.
An interactive online map will be developed, featuring hiking trails, attractions, guesthouses, and other tourism services.
Stronger cooperation with neighboring Kolochava could benefit everyone—tourism providers, municipalities, national park, and of course, tourists, who’ll get a richer, more complete experience in the region.

Fingers crossed for next steps!
